Linux kernel CPUFREQ information.

CPU frequency scaling in the Linux 2.6 kernels.

Common problems.
I intend to maintain a list of the more frequent problems people see with cpufreq on a separate page.
Debugging.
  • When reporting problems with cpufreq, please make sure your kernel is compiled with CPU_FREQ_DEBUG=y, and boot with cpufreq.debug=7 This will cause cpufreq to log more information to dmesg on state transitions, which will be useful for diagnosis.
  • If you have altered memory timings in your BIOS, set them to 'safe' or 'recommended' settings rather than custom timings. The timings you choose may work fine at some frequencies/voltages, but not at others.
